J-TET

J-TET has been writing songs since his early teenage years, long before there was ever a plan to record them.
His musical background started with violin around age ten before expanding into piano and percussion. While he’ll be the first to admit he never mastered any one instrument, he learned enough to chase the melodies that came into his head. That percussion background still finds its way into the rhythm and cadence of his lyrics.
Much of J-TET’s music comes from life close to home. Growing up in the country shaped the stories he tells, while a wife and two boys inspire many of the ones he is still living. His sound carries the influence of the country music he grew up with, from the early ’90s through the mid-2010s.
His debut album, Receipts, brings those experiences together. It looks back on where life has been while appreciating where it ended up.
At its heart, Receipts is about the evidence a life leaves behind. The people who mattered. The places you remember. The stories worth holding onto.
Every song is a little proof that you were there.
